1,374 in West Islip Lingering Without Power

LIPA reports it is on scheduled to restore power to 90 percent of its customers by Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Many West Islip residents are going on Day 9 in the dark, while Long Island Power Authorities' restorations are slowly reaching the area. 

LIPA reports that 1,374 West Islip homes and businesses are still without electricity as of 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to LIPA's Outage Map. This shows a slight uptick in roughly 24 hours, as 1,144 customers were reported without power as of 4:40 p.m. Monday. 

More than 200,000 residents and business owners across Long Island are still keeping their fingers crossed for power restoration. 

LIPA issued an updated statement at 6 a.m. Tuesday: 

Power to tens of thousands of customers is being restored daily and we are on schedule to reach our next major milestone of restoring power for 90% of all customers by this Wednesday, November 7th.For additional information regarding the restoration progress please visit the Outage Information page.

Restoration work continues around the clock, seven days a week, with over 11,000 workers dedicated to this effort. This includes more than 7,000 linemen and tree trim crews from all over the country, some of whom have been airlifted in by the National Guard. Additional assistance continues to arrive.

The utility company says its has 11,000 workers dedicated to restoring power across Long Island. LIPA's priorities will be restoring power to health care facilities, schools and key components of their electric system.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.
