West Islip Maintains Cheapest Gas Prices on Long Island

Our weekly column explores the best fuel bargains in town.

For the second straight week, three West Islip stations carry the lowest priced regular gas on the island.

The Valero station (located at 225 Higbie Ln & West Islip Boulavard) and Delta station (305 Union Blvd & Higbie Lane) tie for the top spot, offering regular at $2.61 per gallon when payed with cash only, according to LongIslandgasprices.com.  Gas Stop (268 Higbie Ln. & Paumanake Avenue)  comes in a close second at $2.63 per gallon. 

The $2.61 price tag beats out the Long Island average by 16 cents ($2.77), which is the lowest its been in nine months.  Valero and Delta also have the cheapest priced midgrade and premium fuel at $2.73 and $2.81, respectively.

Where can you find the most expensive gas?  A Mobile in Brentwood and Getty in Syosset both offer regular at $$3.29 per gallon.  Canada still sells the most expensive gas in North America, charging residents an average of $3.80 per gallon.

If you're looking to fill up for the lowest possible price in the country, head down I-95 to North Augusta, South Carolina where they're selling regular for a measly $2.29 per gallon, 41 cents below the national average.
