Visions For Vacancies: Former WI Florist Property

In the second of its continuing series West Islip Patch wants to know what type of business readers would like to see at the vacant parcel on Higbie Lane.

Many longtime residents likely had once purchased floral arrangements at the former West Islip Florist. But the property on Higbie Lane where the flower shop stood for many years remains empty.

The structure left vacant after West Islip Florist closed its doors was later destroyed in a fire, and the property’s owner removed the charred remains.

Not long after the flower shop closed, there was talk in the community that Starbucks was possibly interested in opening a coffee shop at the location. But those rumors never came to fruition.

In the latest installment of , West Islip Patch would like your input on the type of business you would like to see on this empty parcel of land.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
