Thursday Is Free Slurpee Day At 7-Eleven

The nation's largest convenience store chain celebrates July 11th with a free frozen drink.

Thursday is July 11, and 7-Eleven is once again celebrating 7/11 with free Slurpees.

This year, however, patrons picking up a free frozen drink at their local 7-Eleven will be treated to a larger size.

According to a report in USA Today, the nation’s largest convenience store chain is replacing its 7.11-ounce freebee given away in past years with a 12-ounce Slurpee.

Laura Gordon, vice president of marketing and brand innovation for 7-Eleven, estimated about 7 million Slurpees will be given away on Thursday at a total cost of $7.6 million.

The larger Slurpee size is being used in response to feedback from mothers, who asked for cups with lids.
