UPDATE: King Kullen Shuttering West Islip Store After Holidays

No date set for closing supermarket doors.

Information regarding land ownership was added to this story.

The West Islip King Kullen on Union Boulevard will close after the holidays but whether a Wild Nature store will replace the retail supermarket is still under review and no official closing date is set.

"There is not a definite date for the closing of the store," stated Lloyd Singer, senior vice president at Epoch 5 Public Relations, in an email to Patch Thursday.

Singer added that King Kullen does not own the store building or the land.

The rumor of the store’s closing has been consistent since early October. At that time King Kullen would not confirm a potential closing. Several Patch readers have stated that the store may be half Wild Nature and half a ‘dollar’ type of store. Another reader said that Good Samaritan may be interested in the location.

Wild by Nature is just one of several independent subsidiaries that the Bethpage supermarket chain operates. It is described as a full-service, full size natural food marketplace on the King Kullen website. There are over 42 King Kullen stores on Long Island.
