Fuel Prices Continue to Plummet

Our weekly column explores the best gas values in town.

Slowly but surely, gas prices throughout Long Island are falling, according to LongIslandGasPrices.com. And for three consecutive weeks, West Islip residents have been noticing the trend.

Delta once again offers the cheapest regular in town at $3.65, down from $3.78 just two weeks ago.  Valero and Gas Stop aren't far behind with a regular price of $3.66.

In the last week alone, the average Long Island price has dropped from $3.82 to $3.72.  Since Sept. 4, the average has dropped 24 cents.

Where can you find the best value on the Island?  An Empire and Gas Stop station in Bay Shore are both selling regular for $3.49.  The most expensive can be found at a Mobil in Shirley, where they must've missed the memo and are still charging $4.19 per gallon.
