Cafe Mojo Owner on Closing: "It Is A Sad and Happy Occassion"

Before closing, owners thank community for their loyalty during the past decade.

As the owners of Cafe Mojo prepare to close their doors, they're thanking the West Islip community for embracing the business for almost a decade.

"[We] would like to express our gratitude to everyone for making Cafe Mojo a success," said Jacqueline Hartman, who co-owns the restuarant along with her husband Marc.

The eatery and coffee house on Higbie Lane, which has been a mainstay in West Islip for nine years, closes Friday.

The Hartmans are already looking forward to what's to come, though they'll miss their patrons and staff.

"Marc myself and our children are looking forward to our next venture whatever that may be," Jacqueline said. "It is a sad and happy occasion. We will miss everyone."

As for the restaurant, it will soon reopen as The Lions Den under new owners. Hartman is confident the spot will remain a favotire among locals.

"They will be in good hands with the new owners," she said.

No word yet on when The Lions Den will open. Customers are invited to stop by Thursday to wish Cafe mojo farewell.
