Local Businesses Offer Help After Sandy

DeVivo Associates, located on Union Boulevard, is serving as a "Super Storm Sandy Humanitarian Center" offering clothing, blankets, water, toiletries, bleach, gloves, hand warmers and more to families who have lost everything in the storm. The insurance agency is also offering assistance with submitting FEMA claims- whether or not you're a policyholder.

Back 2 Health Long Island is giving complimentary one-hour massages to first repsonders and utility workers in the Towns of Babylon and Islip as a way of expressing their gratitude for their help following Hurricane Sandy.

Roots Extends Restaurant Week Menu

Due to Sandy, Roots Bistro announced it will extend its Long Island Restaurant Week menu through the rest of the week. Diners can enjoy a prixe fixe menu for $24.95 until Sunday, Nov. 18.

Gas Rationing

Last week, New York State initiated an odd-even gas rationing system in an attempt to alleviate the long lines and overtaxed patience that have plagued the area since Sandy. According to readers, the system seems to be working.
