Applebee's Fundraiser Targets Fight Against Pediatric Cancer

Funds raised throughout July will benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is teaming up with Applebee’s throughout July in an effort to raise funds to help cure pediatric cancer.

Participating Applebee’s in Nassau and Suffolk counties will raise funds throughout July in support of ALSF by donating $.25 from each lemonade sold (all varieties) through their Summer Squeeze promotion to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Applebee's has three locations near West Islip: 1251 Deer Park Ave. in North Babylon, 600-A N. Wellwood Ave. in Lindenhurst, and 2550 Sunrise Highway in East Islip.

In addition, Applebee’s guests will also have an opportunity to donate to ALSF through the purchase of paper lemons to be displayed on the restaurants’ walls in support of childhood cancer research.

This year marks the ninth consecutive year that Applebee’s franchisees have supported Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Applebee's raised a record $500,000 in fundraising proceeds in 2012 and more than $3.2 million has raised since 2005.

This year, more than 700 restaurants nationwide, including Applebee’s on Long Island will raise funds to help cure pediatric cancer with a goal of reaching the $5 million mark in funds raised.

“We’re encouraging people to cool down while helping a good cause,” says Marc Prince, Director of Operations for the Long Island Applebee’s restaurants.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation focuses on encouraging and empowering others, especially children, to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer research for treatments and cures. For more information on this year’s Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation visit www.alexslemonade.org
