Monday, August 23

Sidewalk Art Contest (11 a.m.- noon) - Each teen will be given a square on the library's sidewalk to create his/her very own masterpiece. The library will supply colorful chalk. The most creative 'square' will win a special prize. Grades: 7-12.  Rain date: Tuesday, August 24.

End-of-Summer Craft Workshops (2-3 p.m. or 3:30- 4:30 p.m.) - Join us for a fun craft to celebrate the end of summer. Grades: K-3.  Fee: $2.50.  Limit: 20

Tuesday, August 24

Seashore Safari (2-2:45 p.m.) – Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative, this class introduces children to local marine life - sea stars, shellfish, etc. Grades: K-4.  Limit: 30.

 "Stepping On" Falls Prevention for Seniors (10 a.m.- noon)- Sponsored by the Suffolk County Health Department, this 7-week workshop is led by a health professionals and local guest experts who will be providing information on exercise, vision, safety and medications. Areas of discussion include balance and strength training, ways to stay safe while out and about, how to buy safe footwear and how to check your home for safety. Become more aware of hazards and learn how your fall risk can be reduced. Limit is 14 people.

Wednesday, August 25

'Beach Party' Pre-School Crafts (10:30 a.m.; 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.) – Kids can create their own beach crafts at this event.  Fee: $1.00. Ages: Pre K- 3.  Limit: 15 per session.

Spa Night Too! (7-8 p.m.) - Relax before school begins. Join us for a night with friends and make your own bath salts and lip gloss!  Limit: 25.

Thursday, August 26

New York State Pre-licensing Course (4:30-9 p.m.) - You must attend this course to be eligible to take the road test.  Be sure to bring a valid Learner's Permit,  black pen and the $40 registration fee to the class.

Bridge Instruction (10:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.) - Need to improve your bridge skills? Join Carol Matthews for this fun and informative 8-week session that will definitely bring a new dynamic to your game. Basic bridge playing skills are required. The cost is $45 per person, payable to Carol Matthews. Limit is 32 people.

Zumba for Adults (7-8 p.m.) - Do you want to burn more than 500 calories in one hour? Come ZUMBA with Bobbi Ann for a high-energy cardio aerobic class.  ZUMBA is a full body workout integrating slow and fast paced rhythm with hip-twisting, fat-burning moves and leaves participants craving for more, more, more!           

Zumba for Teens & Tweens (5:30-6:30 p.m.) - Today's teens and tweens spend less and less time exercising and more time watching TV or playing computer games. This class introduces you to dance and shows you how body, rhythm, movement, creativity and feelings work together to become an art! Join us for this exciting introductory class! Grades: 4-12.  Limit: 30

Friday Afternoon at the Movies (Starting at 1 p.m.) - For a list of upcoming films, please visit the Library Blog

 Seniors Fitness Classes (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) - This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40. 

'Drop-In Craft' (2-4 p.m.) - Just drop by any time from 2- 4 p.m. for a quick craft. No registration required.  Ages: 3- grade 6.
