A list of events and activities the WIPL is hosting from Nov. 1-5

Each week, the West Islip Public Library plays host to numerous activities and unique events for its residents.  Whether it's for a child, tween, teen, adult or senior, there's always something for everyone.

Every Monday, West Islip Patch will provide a list of all the happenings at the library for the week.

Tuesday, November 2

Tech Time (11 a.m.-noon):  Bring in any questions you have regarding your laptop, cell phone, iPod, or any other technological device you own.   Call the Reference Desk for more information.

Wednesday, November 3

AARP Driver Safety Courses (9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.):  Bring your driver's license and a black pen to class. Numbers will be given out starting at 9 a.m. to those residents who come in before registration starts.  Fees: Non-member fee is $14.00. Current AARP members will receive a $2.00 discount when you show your valid AARP membership card when you register. No cash can be accepted. Fee must be paid by check or money order.  Registration begins Tuesday, August31, for West Islip School District residents only.  Limit: 30 per class.

Blood Pressure Screening (2-3 p.m.):  This community service is brought to you through the auspices of Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter's office and the Consolation Residence nursing staff.

Thursday, November 4

Bridge Instruction (10:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.):  Need to improve your bridge skills? Join Carol Matthews for this fun and informative 8-week session that will definitely bring a new dynamic to your game. Basic bridge playing skills are required. The cost is $45 per person, payable to Carol Matthews. Limit is 32 people.

Friday, November 5

Senior fitness classes (11 a.m.-noon):  This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40.
