West Islip Weekend Planner

We've got a list of events happening around the area this weekend.

The Babylon Council on the Arts is performing 'Till My Dying Day' to benefit The Wounded Warriors Project. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday. 

Kids ages 3 through 5 can explore the world of fish in this interactive program at Cedar Beach Marina on Saturday at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 per child. Register in advance via 631-587-2873 or tm353@cornell.edu.

The Christina Renna Foundation and the Lindenhurst Rotary Interact Club are collecting prom dresses for a dress drive to benefit Memorial Sloan Kettering Children’s Cancer Center “Prom Night.” Drop off dresses (Labeled "CRF" and preferably dry-cleaned) at Renate’s Boutique Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Catch a musical adaptation of "The Three Little Pigs Out West" at the Studio Theater in Lindenhurst on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Acoustic folk duo Weevos is performing at All The Perks Cafe in West Babylon on Saturday starting at 3 p.m.

On Sunday at 3 p.m., the West Islip Girls' Lacrosse Booster Club is hosting theis 6th annual Kickoff Fundraiser at Sea Levels Restaurant in Brightwaters. There will be music, food, beer, wine and raffles.

The Ice Rink at Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park is open and ready for skaters. Stop in this weekend on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
