Have you daydreamed about moving somewhere the monthly utility bill isn't equal to a new car payment? Where food costs are lower, where gas prices are cheaper?
You might have been daydreaming about Tuscon, Arizona if that's the case.
According to Bestplaces.net, the cost of housing alone is 69 percent cheaper in Tuscon than in West Islip. Food, utilities, transportation and healthcare are all cheaper in fact. Overall Tuscon is 39 percent cheaper than West Islip in cost of living expenses.
But then again, a salary of $50,000 for a resident in West Islip dips quite a bit -- to about $30, 518.
So maybe it's more of a tradeoff in comparing cost of living. What's your view of the high cost of living on Long Island and do you plan to move somewhere out of state at some point? Share in the comments below.
