West Islip Couple Searching For Missing Cat

Liz and Ron English seek community's help in finding Georgie, who escaped family's vehicle following car accident Tuesday on Sunrise Highway.

A West Islip couple involved in a car accident Tuesday on Sunrise Highway is now seeking the community’s help in finding their cat that jumped from their car following the crash.

Local realtor Liz English, who also serves as president of the Long Island Board of Realtors, and her husband, Ron, were involved in a mid-day crash near the Robert Moses Causeway exit of Sunrise Highway.

According to Judy Cangemi, a family friend and co-worker of Liz English at , the couple was hit from behind and their car sustained significant damage. Ron English is currently recovering from non-life-threatening injuries at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and Liz English was not seriously injured in the incident, Cangemi told West Islip Patch.

The concern now for Liz and Ron English is the whereabouts of their cat, Georgie. The now missing feline was in her carrier that was damaged in the accident, which allowed her to escape, Cangemi explained.

Georgie is a Sphynx, a hairless cat that is mainly pink in color with some gray mixed in. She weighs approximately seven pounds and is not accustomed to the outdoors and is very timid, according to Cangemi. Also, the cat does not like to walk on grass and would likely rest on a deck or concrete patio.

“If anyone sees her, she does respond to her name and is probably hungry,” she said. “She will eat tuna or turkey.”

The Englishes are offering a $200 reward for the return of Georgie. Anyone who may have the cat or has seen Georgie may call Cangemi at 917-612-3592.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
