West Islip Community Supports P.S. I Love You Day

Members of the community wore purple Friday to spread awareness for suicide and bullying prevention.

For the second year in a row, members of the West Islip community wore purple on Friday in honor of P.S. I Love You Day.

Founded by West Islip sophomore Brooke DiPalma in 2012, P.S. I Love You Day is an extension of the campaign of kindness created in memory of DiPalma's father Joseph, to suicide. The movement has grown to support individuals suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, and bullying.

Students across the district wore purple and decorated signs with words of kindness to celebrate the day. The West Islip Varsity Cheer Team wore their P.S. I Love you shirts on their way to Disney World to compete at nationals.
