West Islip Black Diamonds Snare LI Boys of Summer Title
West Islip's Long Island Black Diamonds 13-year-old baseball team won the 2013 Long Island Boys of Summer Championship. 

In order to win the title the boys defeated the L.I. Force 7-5, L.I. Titans 7-3 and then crushed the B45 Storm in the championship game 13-1 to capture this years crown. This was the second championship the team won in 2013. Earlier this year they won the FIOS wood bat championship in Bethpage.

West Nile Find Prompts Limits at 2 Islip Parks
As West Nile season continues to rage on Long Island, Suffolk County and the Town of Islip on Monday moved to limit hours at two Islip parks after mosquitos there tested positive for the disease.

Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore and Byron Lake Park in Oakdale will only be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, the county's health department announced in a statement, after one mosquito from each park was found to carry West Nile.
