VIDEO: Local Girl Scout Goes For The Gold

High school senior Nikki Zuaro is in need of supplies for special needs art program.

senior Nikki Zuaro is going for the gold and is looking for some assistance from her friends and neighbors.

While she won’t be competing athletically against international competition, Nikki is working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award. To meet her goal, she has developed a library art program for teens with special needs. Running this summer, the multi-week program will host a handful of special needs students who will work on designing a coffee table that will be housed in the teen room at the .

In an effort to raise awareness of the program, Nikki hosted an art show Wednesday evening at the library that featured works from various students across the school district.

To hold the program, Nikki is looking for donations of various art supplies including color pencils, canvas, paints, pastels and sketch paper.

Those interested in donating supplies or having their child take part in the class may contact Jennifer Fowler, the library’s Young Adult Services Librarian, at 661-7080.
