Video: Homeless Veteran Laid To Rest
Korean War vet given funeral with full military honors courtesy of Dignity Memorial
Harry M. Grayson, Jr. joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was also a writer who penned articles for Stars and Stripes during his time as an enlisted man.
He was honorably discharged in 1954, and went to work writing for a wire service. He was a private person who later fell on hard times, eventually becoming homeless. He spent his last days in Bay Shore, N.Y.
Men such as Harry M. Grayson, Jr. often fall into obscurity, but Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, in partnership with Dignity Memorial and Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home of West Islip, have ensured that Grayson, Jr. and other homeless veterans get the respect and honorable military funeral they deserve.
