Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter recently joined in honoring retiring West Islip Chamber of Commerce Member Maria Pecorale.

Maria has been the owner of Hawley Corner Gift Shop in West Islip for more than 25 years and has been a very active member of the community.

Maria has been serving the West Islip community in many ways since she began her work with the Chamber of Commerce more than 25 years ago. In 1976, Maria was one of the founding members of the West Islip Bicentennial Fair, and she has continued her work with the annual West Islip Country Fair since.

Maria is also involved in preserving historic Sagtikos Manor for future generations. After years of passionate service to the community, Carpenter was happy to award Maria a proclamation in honor of all of her hard work and dedication to the West Islip community and beyond.

“Maria has proved time and time again, that she is dedicated to the community and has a strong passion for community service,” Carpenter said.
