The Week Ahead: Story Time, Knitting Group at the Library

Plan your week around these local events.

The John Thomas Gaffney Memorial Golf Outing takes place on Monday, with a special dinner reception to follow at 6 p.m. All funds raised will benefit the John Thomas Gaffney Memorial Fund.

Youngsters and their parents can enjoy storytime at the library on Tuesday. Storytime for tots ages 24 months to 41 months will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center will be holding its bi-weekly Breast Cancer Support Group starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Enjoy knitting? Come down to the Library to show off your techniques and maybe learn something new. Please bring knitting needles, a pattern, and yarn to the group, which starts at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Throughout the month of October, you can view the Pink Flags of October display on the front lawn of Good Samaritan Hospital. Hundreds of flags were placed there Sunday by the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The West Islip Public Library is holding an ongoing Halloween costume drive for new and gently used costumes to donate to children in need. The costumes will be distributed through several Long Island organizations before Halloween. You can drop off your donation through Friday, Oct. 19.
