Tell Us How the LIRR Can Improve Service

MTA head says LIRR service improvements are underway, but is enough being done?

The chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority spoke at a meeting of the Long Island Association in Melville on Thursday.

Thomas Prendergast said the MTA would seek to improve the quality and level of service on the Long Island Rail Road, according to a Newsday report

Prendergast said the MTA's current focus on Long Island was the installation of digital information signs at LIRR stations, possible "pocket tracks" at some stations to boost capacity and the Double Track project underway to build a second track between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale, Newsday reported.
