Suffolk County Police Commissioner’s Race to Benefit Guardians of Our Dependents

Participants sought for 5K race and kids run in May.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Edward Webber is hosting a 5K run next month to benefit the Guardians of Our Dependents (GOOD), an organization that helps families of police department members who have died.

The 3.1 mile flat USATF course runs through the grounds and surrounding area of Suffolk County Police Headquarters, located at 30 Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank. The event, which will be held on May 10 at 4 p.m., is $25 for those who register by May 7 and $30 for those who register after May 7. Race times will be recorded using timing chips and posted online.

There will also be a Kids 1K Fun Run for children 12 and younger starting at 3:30 p.m. The entry fee for the Fun Run is $5.

GOOD has helped families of more than two dozen members from the Suffolk County, Nassau County and New York City Police Departments. The organization assists with home repairs, provides activities for children and offers general support to the surviving spouse and children.
