Photo Gallery: District Closes Schools As WI Receives Close to 13.5 Inches

WI was once again forced to close schools due to heavy snowstorm.

, the West Islip School District has cancelled all schools due to heavy snow the area received overnight. 

According to the National Weather Service, North Babylon (the closest town with a recorded total) was hit with 13.5 inches.  Northport led Suffolk County with a 16.5 inches. 

Weather.com reports are saying residents shouldn't expect anymore snow for Thursday, but chances are it's supposed to return Friday afternoon.

Midterm exams that were scheduled for Thursday have been moved to Monday, Jan. 31, and Regents exams must be pushed back to June, the district website said. 

Driver education classes and after-school programs have also been canceled for the day.
