Photo: A Fire Island Fox at Rest

U.S. Army Corps of Engineer photograph catches barrier beach wildlife off guard.

It's been a rough winter for wildlife on Fire Island given super storm Sandy, the blizzard and cold winter days. No wonder this red fox, snapped by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineer photographer, was taking a moment to rest. The photo was taken on January 12, 2013 using a Nikon D60.

If you hate the district so much Wendy, why do you live here? The district would be a much betterRead More place without your pathetic self. You are the evil of this district. Thanks to you and your friends for calling the media... You could have at least got the story straight first. Smh.

Wendy - So happy that you finally signed on as yourself. I want to take this opportunity to tell youRead More that I think that you are the most evil, calculated, manipulative and miserable person that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. If you think for a moment that the majority of us don't see right through the diabolical intentions of you and your friends, you are a fool amongst a host of other things. Your hate for a member of our BOE, has caused you to sink to an all time low. Now you have taken to bullying & harassing children as a way to further attack members of our school board. What's the matter? Patch didn't cover a non story so you and your friends have to stomp in & make sure the story got on patch? Contacting other media outlets didn't produce the storm that all of you had hoped it would? My beef with you extends to the shit stirring that you have resorted to regarding our elementary school PTA. With every bad thing that you have set your hand to do regarding our PTA and anything having to do with our children's school district in general, I hope you are exposed for the monster that I believe that you are. Maybe if people begin to do to you what you do to them, you will begin to treat people with kindness and compassion.

That is dumb? Who are you to call someone dumb. Typical Suffolk county "pearly" whiteRead More trash talk. Learn some manners! By an agenda was meant by someone running to the media. I've dealt with the media/reporters for many years. They are cowards and will run with a story while trying to turn over every rock with no shame. Hey pearly white they are KIDS, good ones from what I hear. Kids make mistakes even when they are taught right from wrong. They didn't commit a crime just chose maybe to take an easy way out. Welcome to the world of technology. Like others have posted and I have argued for years, phones should not be allowed in class. Period!!! Wendy.... I just seen your post about newsweek on the other post. You are right. Its a fugazy poll.

Yes, I was also really disappointed to see the damage to the sign on Lion's Path. Some people haveRead More no respect.

Is it me? Or does anyone else think that all parties involved should be fired for betraying theRead More trust and adding to the tarnished reputation the West Islip School system and its students by reporting the recent cheating scandal to the media. I mean really, did anyone from the district or school system need to contribute to the story in the media, how about no comment the matter is under review. Why does the BOE allow an overpaid moron like Richard Simon with no public information experience to speak to the media let alone anyone? This matter should have been handled by the School Districts attorney. Good job to the Morons of the BOE and Superintendents office keep letting us tax payers down.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
