Jets Gameday Food & Viewing Guide

Where to stock up on food and drink for Sunday's big game.

Okay Jets fans, we're only two days away from AFC Championship game. Are you ready? Are you hosting or attending a party? Or looking to buy some Jets swag for good luck? Well, we at Patch have done our homework on the best places to buy food around town so all you need to do is choose which option is right for you.

Do It Yourself Food: All three supermarkets--Best Yet, King Kullen and Stop and Shop--are great places to stock up on everything you need if you are hosting some friends for the game: cold cuts platters, cheese and cracker platters, chips, pretzels, soda, beer, desserts to name a few.

If King Kullen is your choice, make sure to check out the inflatable Jets doll just past the courtesy desk. You cannot miss it-they strategically placed between the stacked cases of Budweiser and Bud Light.

Take out: Plenty of places around town have menus guaranteed to please even the toughest crowd (ahem, Steelers' fans).  If you want Italian food, will have two specials to choose from, in addition to the regular menu.

“We'll have twenty five cent wings and a special for two pizzas and a dozen garlic knots for $18.95,” said owner Chris McGinley. Sunday's hours are noon-10 p.m. with delivery available until 9 p.m.

Heroes: If heroes are what you're looking for, the competition around town might prove to be more intense than the one on Heinz Field. Three of West Islip's favorite places think their place is the one to beat.

At , owner Charles Hendrickson believes his patrons know best. “We make the best heroes in town, according to the feedback from my customers,” he said. “We also have wings, which are spicy and crispy.”

Across town at the , two of the most popular heroes on the regular menu are perfect for game day, according to owner Scott Stancavage. “The Chicken Cutlet Supreme (chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella, tomato and balsamic vinegar) or the Lion Tamer (chicken cutlet, bacon, Monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing) which is my favorite, would be great for Sunday's game,” he said.

Over at , co-owner Dan Herb recommends one hero above all the others, which is available on Sunday also. “The Super Italian hero (salami, peppers, provolone, two hams and the works--lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, vinegar and oregano) is a slice of heaven,” he said. “The flavors go together.”

The will make anything on request from their Super Bowl Specials menu this Sunday. For dessert, how about a football cake from Carvel?

Jets swag. The biggest and best selection of Jets swag for the serious fan can only be found in one place: Grand Slam Collectibles. Not only can you shop there, but you can do it during half time. “We will be open and the games are always on here, plus we have tons of Jets items for sale,” said owner Frank Lyons.

Other Jets stuff including pennants, elastic bracelets and balloons can be found at King Kullen, 7-11 on Union Boulevard, CVS and Rite-Aid.

Where to watch the game. As previously stated, will have the game on.  Can you imagine watching the game with Joe Namath's autographed jersey in plain sight?

will have the game on all T.V.s and will be offering $8 pitchers.
