Husky Runs More Than A Mile to Visit Owner at Good Sam

Zander left his Bay Shore home in search of his ailing owner last week.

A husky named Zander left his home in Bay Shore and traveled to Good Samaritan Hospital last week, the Associated Press reports.

Zander's owner, John Dolan, was recovering from a leg ailment at the hospital at the time.

According to the AP, the 70-pound dog slipped out of his home at dawn and ran about a mile and a half to the hospital. A stranger called Dolan to alert him that the dog was across the street on Montauk Highway after finding his contact information on Zander's tag.

Dolan thinks Zander's destination may have just been a coincidence, however his wife, Priscilla, believes the dog set out to find his owner, the AP said.
