Heat Advisory In Effect for West Islip
Temperatures expected to be in the high 90s with high humidity
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Suffolk County including the West Islip area until 9 p.m. this evening.
A heat advisory is issues when high humidities combined with a high temperatures are expected to make it feel 100 to 104 degrees. Drink plenty of fluids and stay in air conditioning if possible. Also, check on relatives and neighbors.
According to weather.com, the temperature for West Islip as of 1:20 p.m. was 89 degrees. Temperatures are expected to hit 90 degrees today with humidity reaching near 60 percent. There is also a chance of isolated thunderstorms tonight.
