Saturday Night Cruise LI Road Gents

When/Where: , 187 Sunrise Hwy, West Islip (Saturday, 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.)

What:  The Long Island Road Gents is holding a Saturday Night Cruise at Bob's Stores in West Islip.  The Gents are a family oriented club which features cars and trucks of all kinds.  Founded in 2006 in West Islip, this event is to support a local business and enjoy cars from all different models.

Pricing: Free

Lawn Party on the Bay Cancer Charity Extravaganza

When/Where:  164 Secatogue Ln W, West Islip, NY 11795 (Sunday, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  Breast Cancer Help, a local group dedicated to helping eradicate breast cancer, is holding a Lawn Party on the Bay benefit event.  The group supports research, and is set out to make sure that all women the best in breast cancer screenings and treatment.

Featured will be food, beverages, and music donated by Piccolo Ristorante of Bellmore and Carle Place.  There will also be raffles, prizes, and of course the beautiful scenery of the Great South Bay.

Save My Mom Bone Marrow Drive, Auction and Charity Jewelry Bar

When/Where:  41 Homer Ave, Deer Park (Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  To help save a life, come to this worthy drive, auction and charity jewelry bar.  Marica Jabick is dying from a rare form of leukemia and needs your help.  She is in desperate need of a life saving transplant.  Featured at this fundraiser will be a Chinese and silent auction, Judith Ripka charity jewelry, handbag bar and gift cards to a variety of local businesses.  The silent auction will include hotel stays, concert tickets, movie tickets and autographed sports memorabilia. Ice Cream Social - Wohseepee Park

When/Where:  500 N Windsor Ave, Brightwaters, NY 11718 (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  For an evening of music by the talented Symphonic Band of Bay Shore and Brightwaters, come down to the 14th Annual Band Concert and Ice Cream Social.

Islip Arts Council Free Concerts - Bayard Cutting Arboretum

When/Where:  440 Montauk Highway, Great River, NY 11739 (Bayard Cutting Arboretum) (Sunday, 2:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  The Bayard Cutting Arboretum is a New York State Park that was donated to the Long Island State Park Region.  It is a beautiful location and ideal spot for outdoor summer concerts.  Starting at 2 p.m., come down to the Arboretum for a Sunday filled with music and outdoor magic.

Pricing: $8.00 parking fee

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
