Get Out: Guide For The Weekend

A couple ideas for you and your family this weekend.

Having trouble planning your weekend?  Hopefully these ideas are just what you're looking for.  If you have any further suggestions, please drop 'em in the comment section below.

1.  West Islip Lacrosse Day

When/Where: Turf Fields @ West Islip High School, Library Fields (8 a.m.-6 p.m.)

Why Go: All PAL teams  will play all their games at home (at Barberry, turf or library fields). Games will be going on throughout the day starting at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  There will be "fastest shot" and "best shot" contests for both boys and girls, Lax Day t-shirts for all players (including the visiting teams), tents with give aways from Warrior, Lax Unlimited, Long Island Lizards, food, great raffles, music,  etc.  Tents and activities will be spread out between Barberry, turf and library fields.
 
All the West Islip teams are being asked to park in the high school back parking lot by Barberry and walk over to your playing fields.

2.  Authors Unlimited

When/Where:  155 W Roe Blvd, Patchogue (Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Why Go:  For a chance to meet exciting and dynamic young authors, this is the event for you this weekend.  It's a full day event that is open to anyone, however teens and young people are preferred.  There will be autograph sessions, the first 200 teens will receive a free t-shirt, and one lucky fan will receive an iPad!

3.  Walk-A-Thon & Huge Basket Auction

When/Where:  141 Carleton Ave, East Islip (Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)

 Why Go:  Presented by The AMVETS Post 18 & The Harold C. Cooley Dr. Memorial Fund, come join this wonderful event that will help support a good cause.  Walking is a terrific activity that is both healthy and fun.  Registration begins at 8:30 at AMVETS Post 18, and transportation will be provided from AMVETS Post 18 to Heckscher State Park.  The raffle tickets will be sold for $10 for a sheet of 25 tickets and 3 sheets for $20.
