In a message posted on the page, McCarthy's aunt said Ryan is making progress in his recovery and "doing really good."

McCarthy was left critically injured after he was struck by a car on Udall Road just before 10 p.m. on Dec. 31. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident and an alleged subsequent cover-up.

I pray for this family and for this boy to recover. Its so sad that some people clearly have no heart and feel the need to make hurtful posts.

Joel (which is clearly not your real name) - since you are so good at creating comments and seeking attention - I have a comment for you!!!! Since the West Islip Patch has allowed you the freedom of slander and harassment, the West Islip "Community" has decided to give you the attention that you are so desperately craving!!! Resident upon resident upon resident have reached out to the SC Police Dept Crime Division (you know who they are right??) and have reported your continuos slander and harassment. It's kinda sad that a smart person like yourself hasn't figured out that all these surrounding cell towers are a sure find of wifi messages sent from cell phones and computers. Your messages (and how great that you sent so many) will be a quick, easy find for the SCPD to obtsim your "real" name, address and phone number as they are now tracking your wifi route. I hope that when you get arrested for slander and harassment your family finds a good therapist and lawyer for you so that you learn right/wrong. One more thing, since the majority of the world consists of "good " people ...., we, the "good" people will also be praying for you as it is very clear you are on dome sort of help.

Dear west Islp Patch staff, Please get this person joel,, off your site. This is very disturbing and he is a sick weirdo. Ryans family dors not need to read this garbage. I know he is craving attention but enough is enough.

I whole heartedly agree with Grace!!! Only I'd add to any of his family members that might follow the Patch- Please seek out professional help for this obviously disturbed individual. Many of these comments display a sheer disregard for human life and that is a serious concern for the community. It is not something that should be viewed as "craving attention"-it needs to be taken seriously by those who know him and cautiously by those who don't; this individual may truly be a danger to the community.
