Farrell's Fundraiser for Ryan MCarthy Set for March

Benefit will help the McCarthy family pay for Ryan's medical bills as he continues to recover from New Year's Eve hit and run.

Farrell's of Brooklyn will host a fundraiser in March to help cover a portion of Ryan McCarthy's medical bills.

McCarthy has remained hospitalized following a New Year's Eve hit and run crash that left the West Islip teen in a coma. As medical costs continue to pile up, friends of the McCarthy family have organized fundraisers to help out.

The event, set for Saturday, March 2 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., will feature music, food and a number of raffles including 50/50, baskets and grand prizes including an iPad.

Organizers are requesting a donation of $10 at the door, which includes a buffet.

Those who wish to donate but cannot attend the event may send a check made payable to "Ryan's Hope" to 14 Oak Neck Rd. West Islip, NY 11795.

In addition, community members may donate a meal to the family to help out during this difficult time. A schedule has been established through CareCalendar.org.

Anyone looking to reserve a meal donation can register by visiting CareCalendar.org and inputting the following information:

Calendar ID : 135696
Security Code: 5742

Family friends say McCarthy is improving, but still has a long road to recovery ahead. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident and an alleged subsequent cover-up.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
