Facebook Memorial Pays Homage To Thomas Labetti

Online memorial established following the West Islip teen's death Thursday.

As West Islip mourns the loss of Thomas Labetti, a memorial Facebook page has been established in honor the late teen.

Th 15-year-old was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in town two weeks ago and underwent treatment for internal injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital. He died Thursday afternoon.

Within hours of the news of Labetti's passing, the page has gained more than 1,300 supporters.

The introduction to the R.I.P. Tom Labetti page reads: "One of the funniest kids in West Islip, Thomas Labetti was struck by a car on September 12th, 2012. Ever since, Tom has been fighting for his life. On September 27th, Tom passed away. May Tom Rest in Peace."

Dozens of friends, neighbors and aqcuaintances have left kind words of remembrance for Labetti and his family.

"It's a sad day in West Islip, the town is mourning. Rest in peace Tom," wrote Justine Carey-Fischer.

Funeral arrangements are currently being made and Patch will post them as soon as they are confirmed.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
