PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR BAY CONSTABLES JOBS!!

The Town of Islip Division of Harbor Police has provided and maintained safe waterways for decades. They have saved lives and property in the town of Islip and, on many occasions, put their own lives at risk without a second thought. The main function of this division is public safety in one of the busiest bodies of water on the east coast. Islip was just hit with one of the worst storms in history; leaving residents stranded and reported missing on Fire Island. The storm left emergency responders almost helpless to assist. Due to their skill, dedication and knowledge of Islip town waters, Harbor Officers were able to get a boat in the water and underway, battling gale force winds and tides 6-8 feet above normal. This was done quickly and with great personal risk to the officers involved. The officers then spent countless hours transporting and working with search and rescue teams. All victims were helped, and no lives were lost.

On Monday November 19, 2012 the Islip town board voted to eleminate the Harbor Police Division. This will result in the loss of four highly trained marine officers. At this time, Boating accidents are on the rise, Boating While Intoxicated is becoming a growing problem and boating safety courses are being mandated, Islip town cannot afford to lose this resource. Please support the Islip Town Harbor Division by signing this petition. The public's safety should not be compromised.

PLEASE GO TO CHANGE.ORG AND SIGN THE PETITION TO TELL THE TOWN OF ISLIP NOT TO CUT A DIVISION THAT PUTS PUBLIC SAFETY AT RISK!

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.

Why didn't the author run for the open seat this year? Bark of a wolf and courage of a lamb.
