The Child Care Council of Suffolk will kick off its Town of Islip Parent Leadership Initiative (PLI) training semester on Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., location to be announced.
Thereafter, the Town of Islip PLI training will be held on Thursday evenings, January 17 through May 23, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. (location to be announced).
Parent Leadership Initiative courses are held one night each week with dinner and child care provided. Parents will develop working knowledge of state and local government, the media, civic relations and available community resources. Participants of this program also will learn how to become parent leaders, advocates, increase involvement in their community and make a real difference in the health, happiness and success of all children in their community. PLI has been active for more than 20 years through the financial support of both private and public organizations. There is no fee for the program – the only requirement is time and commitment.
