Foliage Photography Wanted, Post-Sandy Call & Homework Help Available

So what is the big Halloween costume this year?

It's officially October and the leaves are falling faster each day. Homecoming has come and gone, and now the push is on for Halloween celebrations as every store is stock full of decor choices and candy.

As Halloween was effectively cancelled last year thanks to super storm Sandy, what are your plans this year? Bigger party or laying low? Share in the comments below.

Patch is looking to do post Sandy stories as the one year anniversary looms, so if you're got a happy or sad tale a year later email judy.mottl@patch.com so we can include it in our coverage.

The foliage change in the next few weeks is typically gorgeous on the south shore and Patch would love to see your photos of fall in all its glory. Just upload them to the Snapshot blog we've got set up. It's real easy.

Stop in at the West Islip library as there are new displays in the cases. This month Emily and JoAnn Kellner will display photographs taken during their travels in China, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, etc.

If your child needs homework help, there is an after school program that runs 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday by the Youth Enrichment Services and the South Shore Community Organization. For more information email: mikemcgrath@optonline.net or call 587-5172 ext. 310.
