You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.

Why didn't the author run for the open seat this year? Bark of a wolf and courage of a lamb.

That is not true. Pageants open a door for girls/woman to speak out and help out. There are manyRead More different types of pageants to chose from. Not all are about beauty alone. Miss Long Island 1997 Also a Lupus and domestic violence Survivor

We should be teaching our daughters to love and respect themselves and pageants do not do that.Read More Feel like a queen? How about a judge or an architect? As the mother of a disabled daughter, I am appalled by this.

As a married man for almost 31 years, I can honestly say we have fallen prey to all of those signsRead More at one time or another. Currently, probably 4 of them still remain. This made me think. Thank you.

I know a couple this pertains to. One refuses to acknowledge the need for help or anyRead More responsibility towards this. The other is wasting her life away miserably, hoping and hoping afraid to do anything about it. Very sad

I would think the dual-income average family in Sayville is closer to $100k, do they get to writeRead More anything off? Most people would be better of using $5k dependent care credit offered through their employers, no?
Quentin Ochs April 10, 2013 at 01:18 am
Thank you for reading and thank you for commenting. You are correct that the credit is based onRead More salary, however my intention was simply to note that there is a credit that can be claimed. According to Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Credit Worksheet - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f2441.pdf) and my experience as a tax preparer, if you earn more than $43,000 the limit is 20% of up to $3,000 spent on one child or $6,000 spent on more than one child. That translates to up to $600 for one child or $1,200 for multiple children for one parent/guardian/household. $600 can make a big difference on a lot of tax returns.

#7 is wrong. The amount you can deduct is based on your salary. Not like you get to pay $5k forRead More camp and write 100% of it off.

I guess I was a month to early- I call SPCA last month to report a case of animal cruelty andRead More nothing seems to have been done about it- my tenants dog is woefully underweight (you can see his ribs) and looks like she hasn't had is nails cut in a year I gave them all the information they asked but when I called back later(twice) I was told that whoever was in charge of the case would get in touch with me(which he never did- leaving a message on my phone with no call back number isn't my idea of getting back to someone) I've still been feeding the poor thing when I can but the tenant is being evicted at the end of this month and I fear he's going to get rid of the dog
