Lipman Joins National PTA Board of Directors

Longtime West Islip Board of Ed leader Susan Lipman moves up the national ladder.

Longtime West Islip Board of Education and PTA member Susan Lipman has been elected to the National PTA Board of Directors.

Lipman joins seven new board members announced at the 116th Annual National PTA Convention and Exhibition in San Jose last month. Thousands of parents, teachers and students voted in the election.

“I am honored to be elected to this position on the National PTA Board of Directors," Lipman said in a statement. "I look forward to being a voice for families throughout the country on issues that affect them every day."

Lipman, a former teacher, has been actively involved in education groups on a local, statewide and national level. She has been a PTA member for more than 25 years, and served on the West Islip Board of Education for 12 years, three years as president and four years as vice president.

She currently currently serves on the National PTA Bylaws & Policy Committee, and holds positions as the Vice President of the State Presidents’ Club,  President of the Empire State PTSA and board member for the Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
