New Women's Imaging Center To Supply Advanced Patient Care

During Breast Cancer Awareness month, Patch will highlight those who are fighting against the dreaded disease.

Good Samaritan's recent opening of their --ideally located directly across the street on Montauk Highway in West Islip-- is demonstrating an advanced push in new ways of fighting Breast Cancer.

The hospital says the center's , which will be able to detect abnormalities in dense breast tissue, will save more lives. 

“Twenty years ago, the tools available to diagnose and treat breast cancer were minimal compared to the technology today, said the center's director, Center Melinda J. Staiger, MD.  "Thanks to the commitment of Good Samaritan Hospital, the center provides the latest in screening and full-field, digital mammography services."

Additionally, the center will feature an all-female staff that specializes in breast imaging.  It will also be the home to the .
