New Town Position for BOE Vice President

Annmarie LaRosa appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

West Islip resident and Vice President of the , , was recently appointed to the Town of Islip .

LaRosa, who has served as the vice president of the BOE since 2009, will begin her new position with the town starting immediately. 

"This is traditionally a board filled with citizen advocates who are active in their community, and I am pleased with the appointment and the opportunity to serve," she said.

Aside from her position with the BOE, LaRosa is the founding and active member of and co-director of the . 

The members of the Zoning Board of Appeals generally review applications pertaining to property requests for such matters as variances for side yards, setbacks, etc. and for expansion of properties beyond what is typically allowed, LaRosa said.

Daniel Lorenzo, neighborhood aide for the Town of Islip, said LaRosa was appointed by and .  The annual salary of this position is a maximum of $15,600.

Her new position requires her to meet three times a month, in addition to her meetings with the BOE and other groups.  But LaRosa said her commitment to the BOE will "remain the same."
