Montes Seeks Board of Ed Seat

Glenn Montes plans to run against current Board of Education President Steve Gellar.

West Islip resident Glenn Montes has submitted nomination petitions to run for the Board of Education against current BOE President Steve Gellar.

Montes, a frequent , regularly expresses his opinions about the West Islip School District, particularly on issues such as and the .

has served on West Islip's board since 2006 and was re-elected in 2009 when he ran unopposed.

Nomination petitions for all board trustee seats are due by Monday, April 16.

In addition to the seat currently held by Gellar, the seat currently held by Trustee Michael Zotto will also be contested in next month's election. It was not known if Zotto is planning to seek re-election.

The district's Meet The Candidate night is scheduled for Monday, May 7.
