Crime Report: Teen Struck in Hit and Run, Rowdy Kids Damage Sign

Incidents and arrests reported by the Third Precinct of the SCPD between December 23 - December 31.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

On December 23, a West Islip man was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

On December 28, a West Babylon man was arrested in West Islip and charged with petit larceny.

On December 30, a West Islip man was arrested and charged with petit larceny.

Incidents

On December 24, there was a report of assault on Straight Path.

On December 26, there was a report of criminal mischief on Sunrise Highway. According to reports, there was a possible attempted break-in at a car repair shop.

On December 27, there was a report of grand larceny on Gridley Street.

On December 28, there was a report of harassment on Montauk Highway.

On December 28, there was a report of criminal mischief on the westbound Sunrise Highway Service Road. According to reports, a group of “rowdy” kids smashed a neon sign.

On December 31, a West Islip teenager was struck by a vehicle on Udall Road. The teen, who police have not publicly identified, sustained critical injuries in the hit-and-run.

On December 31, there was a report of criminal mischief on Ruth Street.
