Varsity Athletes Receive All-County Recognition

Student-athletes awarded for outstanding achievement on and off the field.

Several West Islip High School student-athletes were recognized at a recent Board of Education meeting for their outstanding achievement on and off the field. 

From WIHS Athletic Director Tim Horan:

The Varsity athletic teams had another very successful season this past fall on and off the field of competition. In addition to winning numerous championships, 10 of the 12 fall varsity teams were recognized as Scholar Athlete Teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association for having team GPA’s of 90 or higher.

Recently, twenty two fall varsity student athletes were recognized by the Board of Education for receiving All County Honors from the Suffolk County coaches association in their respective sport.

In addition, Matt Brady and Nicole Shaw were recognized for being selected as West Islip’s Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winners for excelling academically and athletically and demonstrating tremendous leadership traits.
